About Us
We're Curtis & Liz Truax,
owners of the
C Bar L .
WELCOME TO OUR WORLD!
We purchased the C Bar L in 1994. We began with our first stallion, Pines Alliance (by Zippo Bar Pine) and a small band of broodmares.
It's been 30 years, and we've never wavered
from our mission:
To create high-quality crosses that produce the best minds, exceptional conformation, and the ability to excel in multiple directions
We feel blessed and grateful to our family, customers, and clients for the ability to continue in this business and grow our ranch.

We thrive on watching our grandchildren grow up, seeing our clients grow more and more confident in the saddle, and hearing from our customers how much they love their Chevy babies!
I can’t say enough about
Liz Truax and her Roadmap to Better Horsemanship program!!!
Best thing I’ve ever done hands down.

Services We Offer
Breeding and Sales
Curtis and Liz received their 20 Year Breeding Certificate from AQHA in 2019, and always have quality horses for sale. If they don't have what you're looking for, they can help you find your perfect partner!

Our resident stallion is Nightime Shiner, aka "Chevy." An athletic, loveable son of Night Deposit Chex, out of Shining Magic Spark (by Shining Spark).
Chevy is nominated to the Iowa QH Association Ranch Horse Stallion Breeders' Program & Futurity. His foals are nominated and eligible to compete!

Clinics, Horsemanship Program, Show Prep/Coaching
Liz offers her Roadmap to Better Horsemanship program, and many weekends she can be found somewhere teaching a clinic. Roadmap to Better Horsemanship takes riders from their first ride to the show pen, trail, and wherever else they want to go with their horse.

Follow her on Facebook to learn about upcoming clinics to attend. You may also contact her if you'd like to have Liz teach a clinic.

Judging: Carded Judge for ASHA, FQHR, ARHA, NRCHA and Open Ranch Shows
Having worked with horses since she was in junior high, Liz has an expansive show record in breed associations (ApHC, AQHA, and FQHR), as well as Stock Horse of Texas and National Reined Cow Horse Association.

Liz is a carded judge for ASHA, FQHR, ARHA, and NRCHA and is also available to judge open Ranch Horse shows. She somehow manages to find a little time to trail ride and still competes herself.
